The CFO Weightlifting/CrossFit Event

Conditioning:
3 rounds or AMRAP in 5 minutes, whichever comes first:
21 Wall Ball Ball Slams, 12#
15 Ball Slams, 16#
9 Jumping Ball Slams, 20#

As you have heard, I will be working with a couple of veteran and current weightlifters to organize an Olympic lifting event right here in the gym. This event will be held on October 2nd, the same weekend as the CrossFit/USAW Open in Colorado Springs, CO.

We are not holding this event to protest that event but rather to provide a cheaper alternative as well as an opportunity for any CrossFitter or athlete for that matter who is interested in competing in the sport of weightlifting but doesn't want their first encounter to be on the big stage just yet.

We will follow all IWF rules where possible. We will require weightlifting shoes, possibly a singlet, each athlete lifting will have three judges to determine the validity of each lift, each athlete will get three attempts to establish a 1RM in both the snatch and clean & jerk, there will be weight classes, each weight class will be competed in order from smallest to largest, bar weight will never go down but only up and the order that each lifter goes in will be determined by this, and many other rules and regulations that can be found here.

I am working on a post that will explain how the meet will be run and what each athlete will need to do leading up to the event. Some of these things include filling out a waiver, registering your name and weight class with Strength Development Inc so that we know how many are competing in what weight classes, weighing in on Friday, October 1st, the warm-up area, the lifting process, and awarding of medals to winners.

This is going to be an annual event and we are going to do it right. It will be free this year but after this year, CrossFit Omaha will be a LWC (licensed weightlifting club through USAW) and will require active membership with USAW in order to compete as we plan to sanction the event. I do promise to always keep the price low. I am talking in the 15 to 20 dollar range to help with incendiaries but other than that, we will just maintain that you have an active membership with USA weightlifting.

I hope you are excited as I am to offer this event and I also hope that there are some of you that are not from Omaha, that plan to do the event. We would love to have you come and join us.

Stay tuned for more info....................

Also, I updated the upcoming class schedule again. Take a look as I made some changes to the September 27th classes.

Way to tear it up last night Nate. I completed 18 Wall Ball Slams in the 3rd round. This was a grezt work out for me as Wall Balls are one of my bigger weaknesses and adding the slam to the movement made me work that much harder. I'm looking foward to seeing everyone Saturday.
